The CultureShock Youth Arts Festival 2012 would like to invite you to enter your works of art into this years Art Competition!! “Postcards from the edge of CultureShock.” Entries can be in any style you like (drawing, painting, printed, cartoon, photograph or a photo of your works of art! It doesn't even have to be a new piece of art work it can be something you did years ago!), as long as they are your own work and postcard size (A6 105mmx148mm) they qualify! Please hand in your entries at any participating Youth Support Service/4youth centre in your area or send them to Simon Kirk, CultureShock Festival, CultureShack, Bedale, North Yorkshire, DL8 2EQ, by the 9th of June 2012. CultureShock Dance and Theatre |
Calling all dancers and actors! CultureShock Dance and Theatre applications are now open!!
CultureShock are again offering young people aged 11 – 19 years (up to 25 for young people with SEND) the opportunity to perform in one of the performances spaces. If you are a dancer or actor and would like to showcase your talent at CultureShock this is your opportunity.
We are inviting applications from all young people whether you are part of a group, solos act, duet you can take part. If you are interested in performing you need to be aged between 11 – 19 years and be available to perform on June 23rd .

All applications must be received by May 4th 2012.
Please Note the maximum performance lengths :
A maximum of 20 minutes per theatre piece.
A maximum of 15 minutes per dance piece.
If you are a dance group wishing to enter the Big Big Boogie the maximum performance length is 5 minutes.
THE BIG BIG BOOGIE 2012
This years Big Big Boogie dance Competition will be taking place again at CultureShock. The competition is open to all young people aged 11-19, they can be large ensemble pieces, solo’s or duets.
Entrants can be from youth groups, schools or young people entering of their own back (unfortunately Dance Schools are not eligible for this competition, any Dance schools wishing to perform at CultureShock can contact

Only dance groups from North Yorkshire can take part in the Big Big Boogie
Applicants must be available on June 23rd 2012, they will be judged on Choreography, Interpretation of music, Costume and Technique.

If you are a band or musician and want to perform at CultureShock 2012, read this……
 Due to the massive number of applications that we receive we run a Music competition to help us find the right performers.
Bands and musicians that want to play at CultureShock need to complete the official application form and submit it by Friday 24th Feb.
